CCL Thought Leaders Share Expertise in the New ATD Leadership Handbook

The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL ®) is pleased to announce that our staff and collaborators have contributed to the second edition of ATD’s Leadership Handbook, a wide-ranging resource from the Association for Talent Development (ATD) examining the competencies, attributes, development practices, and contemporary challenges shaping leadership today.

The handbook brings together perspectives from leadership experts across the field. The second edition is edited by Elaine Biech, a member of CCL’s Board of Governors and a prolific author in the leadership and talent development field. CCL staff and collaborators submitted chapter proposals that were reviewed and accepted for inclusion, contributing their latest insights and research on issues most important to today’s leaders.

The new handbook includes 4 chapters that feature insights and contributions from CCL staff and collaborators:

  • Chapter 13, “Beyond Intelligence: Wisdom at the Heart of Great Leadership,” by Stephen B. Jeong, Abigail Dunne-Moses, and David G. Altman
  • Chapter 16, “Leaders in Action: A Behavior-Based Model of Leader Development,” by Andrew C. Loignon, Diane M. Bergeron, Marcia A. Dawkins, Jeff J. Kosovich, and Daniel J. Smith
  • Chapter 21, “The Vertical Path: Developing Leadership Maturity Through Mindfulness,” by Lori Brewer Collins and Emily Hoole
  • Chapter 33, “You Belong with We: Reclaiming Connection at Work,” by David G. Altman and Joanne Dias

Together, these chapters reflect CCL’s commitment to advancing the understanding, practice, and leadership development for the benefit of society worldwide. They connect research and practical experience to pressing questions facing today’s leaders, including how leaders develop through their actions, cultivate wisdom and maturity, and create a stronger sense of human connection at work.

ATD serves over 25,000 members in the talent development profession across more than 120 countries. The new handbook builds on an earlier edition published in 2010, which also included contributions from CCL professionals and received an Outstanding Academic Choice Award.
