Stephen Jeong, PhD

Senior People Scientist

Current Role

Stephen Jeong is a former U.S. Naval Nuclear Electrical Technician turned industrial-organizational (I/O) psychologist. He specializes in people and organizational measurement, leading-edge leader analytics, and the design and validation of new assessment products and services aimed at improving organizational performance. As a Senior Analytics Faculty member of our Insights & Impact group, Stephen is responsible for leveraging advanced analytics to help organizations diagnose / identify levers of both leadership effectiveness and ineffectiveness.

Specifically, he provides guidance on how organizations can best leverage people data (both existing and new) to improve not only individual and group performance, but organizational performance by demonstrating how leader behaviors (i.e., what they do or don’t do) can impact mission-critical business outcomes such as sales, turnover, patient and customer satisfaction, and safety. In a nutshell, Stephen helps senior leaders answer the question: What action can I take today to optimize our culture and people experiences that directly impact our most critical business outcomes?

Experience

Stephen started his I/O career with Assessment Services in Columbus, Ohio, where he managed the design and validation of vocational education certification tests for the states of Ohio and West Virginia. He then joined Willis Towers Watson and worked with industry-leading organizations to diagnose workforce culture and design culture optimization strategies. Before joining us, Stephen was Managing Partner of Waypoint People Solutions, a boutique I/O consulting firm specializing in using state-of-the-art measurement and analytics strategies to help clients optimize their human capital — from employee and executive selection to workforce planning and optimization. His former clients include Google, Monster Worldwide, AECOM, and REI, as well as dozens of high-tech startups.
