About the Workshop
Recognizing Agency is session 5 in in our 6-part series Wellbeing at Work: A 6-Part Series for Alumni.
Agency is the belief that one has control over their actions and environment and feels capable of success. Agency isn’t just a nice-to-have – it’s considered a fundamental human need. When you feel a sense of agency, you know you have a voice in your actions and circumstances, you feel autonomous, motivated, and confident, you take charge and ownership of your work and experience personal investment and pride.
This 90-minute session will help you define agency and practice leadership behaviors that helps create a sense of agency with others. You will participate in activities to help you understand what you have control and influence over and ask the right questions to develop a sense of agency with others. You’ll be provided a guided workbook for the session, and connect with smaller groups of 3-4 in breakout rooms.
What You’ll Learn
In this session, you’ll learn how to:
- Recognize the role of agency in establishing and maintaining a sense of wellbeing
- Identify the extent of control and influence you have in certain situations
- Coach others to recognize how they can enhance their own sense of agency and wellbeing
