CCL Researcher Publishes a Chapter in the Book, Overcoming Bad Leadership in Organizations

Overcoming Bad Leadership in Organizations is the newest release in the Society for Industrial and Organizational Psychology (SIOP) Professional Practice Book Series. The series is designed to help solve today’s most pressing talent management issues by using evidence-based practice from the field of industrial and organizational psychology.

In the chapter, The Dark Side and Leader Derailment, CCL researcher Jean Leslie provides an historical overview of leader derailment from the 1960s to today and presents the role of dark-side personality traits in explaining derailed leaders’ behaviors. The processes of derailment, comparisons of successful leaders to derailed leaders, and the costs of derailment on leaders, coworkers, and organizations are discussed to understand the full array of factors that can lead to derailment.
