(ERROR 4) Receiving an error when attempting to open the downloaded eBook - Advisable Fix

This is one of the more difficult errors to fix as this can be caused by several issues compounded together.

  • If you have Adobe Reader 8, work with your IT department to uninstall Adobe Reader 8 and install in its place Adobe Digital Editions or Adobe Reader 6.x or 7.x. There are known incompatibility issues with Adobe Reader 8.
  • If you are using an Apple Mac, the eBook should be downloaded through Safari. Other browsers on an Apple Mac computer may cause corruption or other issues when downloading the eBook.
  • If you are operating on a slower modem/connection speed, your download may have been interrupted causing the downloaded copy to be corrupted. We advise that you delete the old copy and its voucher and attempt downloading the eBook again.
