Ever notice the chatter that goes on between your two ears? Our brains are story-making machines! A critical skill for Better Conversations Every Day is recognizing this all day, every day, automatic and often unconscious process of filtering and sense making.  Explore how to check and improve your own story-making while simultaneously helping others see the stories they are creating.  This simple approach often leads to more authentic conversations that build trust and shared commitment. Use it to help people who are overwhelmed or stuck in negative thought patterns or to simply enhance your own ability to understand others and provide them the challenge and support they need.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Notice the “story-making machine”; the assumptions and judgements we make all day, every day
  2. Evaluate the impact of the stories we tell ourselves
  3. Learn to Shift to a better story and help others do the same

Intended Outcome: Gain the ability to help move yourself and others from overwhelmed to empowered, and from confusion and inaction to clarity and commitment, in one conversation.
