Barbara Fredrickson, a renowned authority on positive psychology and member of the Center for Creative Leadership’s Board of Governors, will offer a free, six-week online course starting next month on Coursera.

The course, “Positive Psychology,” will draw on Fredrickson’s popular book Positivity, offering students practical ways to enhance their lives by harnessing the power of their emotions. The course runs from Feb. 9 to March 26, with an estimated two to four hours of course work each week.

Fredrickson, who holds a Ph.D. from Stanford University and is Kenan Distinguished Professor in the psychology department at UNC-Chapel Hill, is most recently the author of Love 2.0: Creating Happiness and Health in Moments of Connection.

She is also principal investigator of the Positive Emotions and Psychophysiology Lab (PEP Lab) at UNC-Chapel Hill.
