Scholarships

Empowering Leaders Through Opportunity

We provide scholarships to attend our programs for leaders who are making a difference in their communities. These grants for leadership development strive to equalize educational opportunity by serving a diverse group of leaders who typically cannot access our traditional fee-for-service programs. We commit scholarship seats in all leadership programs all our campus locations, with the exception of the Leadership at the Peak program.

Scholarship Program Eligibility Requirements

Grants for leadership development are limited and based on individual need, type of organization, and program availability. To be eligible to apply, you must:

  • Be a leader working in one of these organizations:
    • Educational institutions
    • Foundations
    • State and local governments (but not the federal government)
    • Registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organizations
    • NGOs or INGOs
  • Be a first-time attendee; you cannot apply if you’ve already attended one of our leadership programs.

Scholarships are awarded only to one person, per organization, per year. Note that nonprofit organizations and NGO/INGOs must be formally registered as nonprofits or hold official NGO/INGO status for their leaders to qualify for consideration. Questions about scholarship eligibility? Contact us.

Know Before You Apply

We have a select number of seats available during the calendar year for scholarship recipients. Even if you qualify, we cannot always guarantee a scholarship.

Accommodations and travel costs are not covered by the scholarship and are the responsibility of the recipient or the sponsoring organization. Occasionally, a program becomes overbooked. In that rare case, we reserve the right to reschedule the scholarship recipient and re-enroll them in a program at a later date.

Apply Now

Before applying, review our Frequently Asked Questions. Then, to apply, you must:

  1. Complete and submit the online application, and
  2. Get a letter of recommendation submitted on your behalf within 90 days. Send your recommender a link to complete our Letter of Recommendation form.

Applications submitted without a letter of recommendation are considered incomplete; a letter of recommendation is required for your application to be considered. What Our Scholarship Recipients Are Saying

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) About Our Scholarship Program Providing Grants for Leadership Development

Does everyone who qualifies get a scholarship?

No. We have a limited number of seats available during the calendar year for scholarship recipients. Even if you qualify, we cannot always guarantee a scholarship. We do not award 100% grants for leadership development to any applicant.

What does a scholarship cover?

The scholarship covers all program materials, assessment feedback, and most meals. Lodging and travel costs are not covered by the scholarship and are the responsibility of the recipient or the sponsoring organization. However, we reserve rooms at local hotels for in-person programs, and will help coordinate your accommodations.

How are scholarship awards determined?

Awards are based on need and type of organization. Recipients are chosen on the basis of personal circumstances and achievements, and the likely impact of the scholarship on their lives and the communities they serve.

Is a letter of recommendation required?

Yes, a brief letter of recommendation is required from a Board member, direct supervisor, or someone from your community you have worked with in your present capacity. If we do not receive both an application and letter of recommendation on your behalf within a 90-day period, you must reapply.

I’ve applied. How will I find out if I’ve been granted a scholarship?

A selection committee composed of members of our Societal Advancement team will review all applications and decide on scholarship selections. We review applications on a regular basis and will notify you of acceptance (or denial) by email within 30 days of application. The acceptance email will outline next steps in the enrollment process.

Your scholarship application and letter of recommendation must be reviewed and approved prior to the time you register for a program. Failure to receive approval for your scholarship prior to your registration can result in forfeiture of your scholarship.

May I indicate a preference for the program I’d like to attend and the campus location?

Yes, you can; however, we cannot guarantee your request. Program placement is based on the program that best suits your needs, where you are presently on your leadership path, and on program availability. If you are accepted to receive a scholarship, you’ll work with a client advisor to help make this informed decision. We invite you to explore our leadership programs to learn more about our specific offerings.

When is tuition due?

Once you are accepted and have registered, an invoice is generated and tuition is due 30 days upon receipt.

Can my scholarship eligibility expire?

Yes. If you’re awarded a grant for leadership development, but are unable to attend one of our programs within one year of your acceptance, you must reapply. If you’re awarded a scholarship and change employers before registering or attending your program, the scholarship you were originally awarded will be voided and you must reapply.

Can I reschedule my participation in a program?

Scholarship recipients who cancel or transfer less than 4 weeks prior to the start of their course must forfeit their scholarship and the program fee. Applicants wishing to attend another session at a later date will need to reapply for scholarship assistance.

How are CCL scholarships funded?

Scholarships are primarily underwritten by CCL. We also receive funding from grants and donations from corporations, foundations, and individuals that believe in empowering leaders by equalizing opportunity. Learn how you can support our scholarship program.
