CCL Adds Five New Board Members

November 21, 2008 - Greensboro, NC - The Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®) has named five new members to its Board of Governors, which oversees the Center's operations.

"As we extend our reach internationally and continue to innovate, we will benefit greatly from the wisdom of these talented men and women. They are first-class leaders in their own right who continue to serve with distinction in the corporate, government, educational and nonprofit sectors," CCL President John R. Ryan said.

New Board members include:

Cutler Dawson, President and CEO of Navy Federal Credit Union, the world's largest credit union with $34 billion in assets and 156 branches globally. A graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy, Dawson is a member of the President's Advisory Council on Financial Literacy and earned a M.S. in financial management from the Naval Postgraduate School.

Gen. John W. Handy (Ret.), Executive Vice President of Horizon Lines, Inc., the largest carrier of containerized cargoes between the continental U.S. and Alaska, Hawaii, Guam and Puerto Rico. Handy retired from the U.S. Air Force in 2005 after 39 years of service. He earned a B.A. in history from Methodist University and a M.S. in systems management from the University of Southern California.

Thomas Ross, President of Davidson College, a nationally recognized liberal arts institution in North Carolina. Ross spent six years as executive director of the Z. Smith Reynolds Foundation before joining Davidson. Prior to that, he was director of the N.C. Administrative Office of the Courts and a superior court judge in the state for nearly 17 years. Ross earned a B.A. from Davidson and a J.D. from the University of North Carolina.

David Thomas, H. Naylor Fitzhugh Professor of Business Administration and Unit Head of Organizational Behavior at Harvard Business School. Thomas joined the Harvard faculty in 1990 and is recognized as a thought leader in strategic human resource management. His research explores executive development, cultural diversity in organizations, leadership and organizational change. He received his B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees from Yale University and also holds a M.A. in organizational psychology from Columbia University.

Ilene Wasserman, Founder and Principal of Innovative Communities at the Workplace (ICW Consulting Group), which focuses on building more effective partnerships, teams and organizational systems. For more than 20 years, Wasserman has been a consultant on organizational development and culture change, leadership, mentoring and coaching, with a focus on fostering inclusive workplaces. She holds a B.S. in human development and family studies from Cornell University; a M.Ed. in counseling and a M.S.W. from Washington University; and a M.A. in human and organizational development and Ph.D. in human and organizational systems from The Fielding Graduate Institute.
