On-the-job experience is one of the richest sources of learning and growth for leaders at all levels. Yet the challenge for organizations seeking to enhance their leadership talent is this: How do we give more leaders the kinds of developmental assignments they need the most?
A new Leading Effectively webinar from the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®) shares organizational strategies and practices for integrating leadership work and learning. Included are strategies and practices for creating temporary assignments for development, enhancing learning from current assignments, and equipping leaders to seek out their own developmental experiences. The webinar makes use of insights from the fieldbook, Developmental Assignments: Creating Learning Experiences without Changing Jobs and shows how practitioners have applied these ideas in their own organizations.
In this session you will learn:
- The kinds of developmental assignments that stimulate the most learning
- How organizations use existing assignments and create new ones for development
- What leaders need to know to pursue and shape their own development
Target Audience: Leaders in any organization charged with organizational learning, leadership development or talent management.
Maximizing the Value of the Webinar
- Invite others to participate. Structure a group "lunch and learn" session and invite other colleagues to attend.
- Debrief the lessons learned. Set aside time at the end of the Webinar to discuss takeaways, and how they apply to your group or organization
- Tap into your training budget. Ask your HR group or manager to underwrite the Webinar as part of your organization's ongoing staff development effort.
