About the Presenter

Kate Beatty, Ph.D.

Kate Beatty, Ph.D. has over twenty years of experience in leadership development and organization change. Her particular areas of expertise include the development of strategic leadership capabilities in individuals, teams, and organizations to drive the organization's goals. She has worked with a diverse array of clients from around the globe, including non-profit, government, and for-profit organizations from a variety of industries. In addition to her direct work with clients, Kate has held many leadership roles at the Center for Creative Leadership (CCL®), including responsibility for critical areas of CCL's portfolio such as its world-renowned programs Developing the Strategic Leader, Leading Teams for Impact, and Leadership at the Peak.

Prior to joining CCL, Kate was an associate with Colarelli, Meyer & Associates, Inc. (CMA), a consulting firm based in the Midwestern United States. There, she focused on organizational change and leadership. Kate also gained extensive experience designing and implementing 360o feedback instruments and processes for CMA clients. Prior to joining CMA, Kate worked at Anheuser-Busch Companies in the areas of executive development and succession planning.

Kate's first career was in electrical engineering. She gained experience as a GM Scholar with General Motors, and also with the Medical Systems division of GE. While at GE, she was a member of their highly acclaimed leadership development program, the Edison Engineering Program. This program includes technical assignments (she designed software for magnetic resonance imaging scanners and hardware for ultrasound scanners), as well as extensive training to prepare the organization's technical leaders of the future. Kate enjoyed studying leadership, and decided to return to graduate school in psychology.

Kate is the Director, Global Portfolio Management and is responsible for the designs of CCL's programs, products, services, and solutions. The ultimate result of her work is to ensure a high quality, relevant, and growing portfolio to meet the needs of CCL's clients across the globe.

Kate holds an MS and Ph.D. in Organizational Psychology from Saint Louis University, as well as a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois.

Kate's research and writing interests are focused on the development of strategic leadership capabilities in individuals, teams, and organizations. She has authored numerous publications and articles, and is co-author of Becoming a Strategic Leader: Your Role in Your Organization's Enduring Success, as well as the chapter on strategic leadership in CCL's Handbook of Leadership Development. Her expertise in this area has led to many invitations as a keynote speaker on the topic.
