Courage is the first virtue...because it makes all the other virtues possible. If that's true, then courage is the first business virtue too. Why? Because it makes so many other business concepts possible. Leadership, for example, takes bold action and decisive judgment. It takes courage. Innovation takes creating ground-breaking, but tradition-defying, ideas. It takes courage. Sales takes knocking on the door in the face of rejection. It takes courage. In fact, courage is so important to these concepts that they don't exist in the absence of courage. Yet, despite the fundamental importance of courage to business success, there have been no training programs dedicated solely on building workforce courage. Until now.

This session will focus on helping you inspire more courageous behavior in yourself and in your coworkers. Specifically, in this session, you'll learn:

About the Presenter

Bill Treasurer Bill is the author of the new training program Courageous Leadership: Using Courage to Transform the Workplace (Pfeiffer, 2011). Bill is the Chief Encouragement Officer of Giant Leap Consulting, a courage-building company (www.giantleapconsulting.com). Bill is also the author of the internationally bestselling book Courage Goes to Work (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2008). Bill's insights about courage and smart risk-taking have been shared with thousands of executives from organizations such as Accenture, SPANX, NASA, PNC Bank, the National Science Foundation, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the U.S. Forest Service, and the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs. Bill's personal mission, the mission of Giant Leap Consulting, and the purpose of the new Courageous Leadership training program are one in the same: To help people and organizations be more courageous. Bill's first book, Right Risk (Berrett-Koehler Publishers, 2003), chronicled Bill's experiences as a captain of the U.S. High Diving Team, where he performed over 1500 high dives from heights that scaled to over 100 feet.
