It's common practice for organizations to add the responsibility of "coach" to its managers' duties. They expect their managers to coach their direct reports to be more effective in their current jobs. What is less commonly known but increasingly discussed and practiced is that coaching skills is an essential leadership capacity. But what does it mean to be a leader coach? How is that role different from what is expected of managers who are coaching their direct reports? What kind of knowledge do leaders need to create organizations with a coaching culture?
This Webinar will touch on those issues and others. It is based on years of experience coaching leaders to be more effective at coaching and growing future leaders. CCL shares those insights in its recently published book, The CCL Handbook of Coaching: A Guide for the Leader Coach.
In this session you will:
- Learn how the leader coach differs from other types of coaches.
- Understand the key issues in coaching a variety of leaders: women, those of color, at the top, and across cultures.
- Expand your perspective on the range of effective coaching techniques, when and how to use them.
- Reflect on the shifts that are occurring in the assumptions about why to coach, how to coach, who's involved, and what gets shared.
- Explore the ways in which your company can create a coaching culture, take a systemic view on coaching and use it for building sustainable leadership bench strength.
