History of Work
with Indian Leaders
We have partnered closely with Indian clients since 2009, when CCL's India office was formally incorporated; but our history of work with Indian leaders dates back to the 1980s with their participating in leadership development initiatives undertaken by global multinational corporations.
2001 was a watershed year, marking the first delivery of a CCL custom engagement in India, with an India-based client. Then from 2005 onwards, after we established the CCL — Asia Pacific office in Singapore, engagements with India-based clients accelerated. India-based organizations now send their managers to open enrolment programs worldwide and partner with CCL — India for the design and delivery of custom solutions.
India is a major growth economy and Indian organizations are quickly becoming global, making it imperative to understand leadership from the Indian and Asian perspective. In response, CCL has undertaken several research projects. Since 2006, we have sought to understand the leadership needs of this region, and the unique perspectives that have a bearing on how leaders are developed in India and the Asia Pacific region.
The more we engage with Indian leaders through our work and research, the more our breadth and depth of insights about leadership grows. Regional and India-based initiatives now complement the Center's global research projects to create a new wealth of understanding and knowledge, which in turn informs our work with clients in India.
There has never been a more pressing need than now for developing leaders in India. The rapid pace of growth, uncertain and fast-changing global economic conditions, and the persisting ambiguity of doing business has made strengthening the leadership pipeline a critical success factor for all organizations. And these needs for leadership development have grown far beyond the basic technical and functional expertise delivered by executive education.
