Leadership Beyond Boundaries (LBB) is the Center for Creative Leadership's (CCL) global effort to advance leadership development in the world. Applying decades of knowledge in CCL's research and training practice, LBB's mission is to make accessible, low-cost but equally high quality leadership development at the grassroots. With the help of sponsors and partners in India, LBB has been working to unlock the potential of the country's greatest resource — its people.
This LBB effort in India spans multiple sectors and populations. The following are key areas of work:
Educational Institutions: LBB has worked with institutions such as TISS, XLRI, SP Jain, WeSchool and iFEEL to develop the capacity of faculty and students. These efforts are aimed at helping develop leadership skills of young people before they take on fast-track management roles in Indian companies. LBB has also worked to develop the capacity of school principals and teachers so that they can be more effective as educational leaders.
Youth Development: LBB has equipped more than a dozen organizations in India working to prepare young people for the workplace and to take on greater roles in society. These institutions include Bhumi, America India Foundation, Deshpande Foundation, Quest Alliance, and Youreka. The populations reached range from low-income youth in slums and villages, to high achieving students at elite urban schools, to fellows in national and international programs.
Government and Social Sector Leadership: LBB has helped prepare trainers working in the social sector build their capacity to develop leaders in NGOs and government. This includes work with the 10,000 Women Program and IFAD as well as police officers.
Social Entrepreneurs: LBB has worked in India with Villgro to help prepare the leaders of young social enterprises to develop the capacity to develop talent within their organizations. We have also worked with Capital Plus Exchange (formerly ShoreCap Exchange) and Unitus to develop senior leaders in the India's foremost development finance organizations.
Microfinance Organizations: In concert with Grameen Foundation and CoCoon, LBB has worked to develop a scalable model for building the leadership capacity of middle managers at microfinance organizations in India.
Women's Empowerment: LBB has conducted women's empowerment workshops with grassroots populations in North and South India. These efforts are designed to help women gain self-confidence and support other women as they work to shape alternative futures for themselves and their families.
LBB in India seeks to collaborate with educational and social sector organizations that are working to develop a new generation of creative leaders who can help India achieve more inclusive development and greater economic prosperity.
